Child FIRST receives phone referrals from professionals as well as parents where the referrer believes the family would benefit from parenting support, and has receive the parents’consent to make the referral on their behalf.
Eligibility requirement
Referring to Child FIRST should be considered where any of the following factors are involved: significant parenting problems that may be affecting the child’s development, family conflict (including family breakdown), families under pressure due to a family member’s physical or mental illness, substance abuse, disability or bereavement, young, isolated and/or unsupported families, or significant social or economic disadvantage that may adversely impact on a child’s care or development.

Intouch Multicultural Centre is a specialist family violence service that works with women from migrant and refugee backgrounds, their families and their communities. InTouch provides case management to women, training, conducts research and runs community-based projects in order to address the issue of family violence in the community. Specialist counselling service and groups support women and children impacted by family violence. A Men’s Behaviour Change Program is available for men wanting to end their use of controlling and abusive behaviours (including violent incidents) and other problematic behaviour in their relationships. A Men’s Case Management Program offers individual support for men aged 18 years and over who want to take responsibility for and change their behaviour, but who are struggling with other challenges that are making change difficult. These challenges may include housing difficulties and homelessness, drug and alcohol use, and/or mental health issues.
