BounceBack

enliven is working closely with EACH (project lead),  and The Alfred in the implementation of the BounceBack initiative at headspace Dandenong and Narre Warren. The BounceBack program works with young people who present with chronic, longstanding, or complicated/co-occurring mental health or social health issues and whose preference is to receive support in a youth focussed, multi-model, community driven context alongside traditional centre based mental health work.

enliven’s role is to utilise our existing networks with CALD communities to facilitate the recruitment and continue to support CALD Youth Peer Support workers who are embedded in the BounceBack teams. These roles were developed specifically for young people who have lived experience of mental health problems. Through sharing wisdom from their own experience, the Youth Peer Support Workers:

  • inspire hope and motivation in the recovery journey of young people accessing headspace services.
  • provide peer support and practical assistance to young people to support them to lead their own unique recover process.
  • promote choice, self-determination and opportunities to seek or maintain socially valued roles and connections in their local communities.
  • support quality improvement activities within the headspace and Alfred Health teams ensuring that services provided continue to be effective, helpful and continuously improved.
